Berlin

Over four days in the February, second year students from Newport's Photographic Art course went to Berlin! There was a lot of walking, visiting galleries and immersing ourselves in the all the beer culture the city has to offer.

As well as exploring the city, seeing its landmarks, and seeing its bustling art and photography scene, we were introduced to former Newport student Stuart Bailes and shown around his very impressive studio, as well as Ben Absalom and Sam Bardsley. Ben was also a former student at Newport and the pair showed us some their previous work as well as some very exciting works in progress, as well as inviting some of their friends along who also showed us some of their work.

The trip was a great success, and many of us fell head-over-heels for the city.

  1. You got to see the Richter "Panorama" exhibition? I am jealous. I went on the final day while it was at the Tate, but tickets were all sold out by the time I got there and some sneaky people had already conveniently cleared the bookshop out of all of the catalogue.

    1. We did! Sara has already seen it at the Tate I think, but she said there was a totally different (and better) vibe at the Berlin version. Really good show. Not to rub it in or anything ...
